The Government provides many grants, subsidies and incentives to support investments in solar energy systems. Consumers can take advantage of both Federal Government rebates towards the cost of their solar system as well as ongoing State Government based incentives. State Government based incentives are in the form of feed-in tariffs for energy that your system feeds back into the electricity grid.
It’s important to be aware that each state has different rebates, incentives and tariff rates. You can get the right information for your state by following the links to the relevant state government pages or visit the Clean Energy Council website.
SOLAR INFORMATION FOR YOUR STATE:
The guidelines for PV solar incentives and rebates are different in every state across Australia and are regularly changing. We suggest you check out the Federal Government website that provides up to date detail and information on all rebates and incentives: Climate Change – Government programs and rebates

Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
Your solar power system may qualify under the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 (the Act), to create Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs). STCs are electronic and represent 1 MWh (mega-watt hour) of renewable electricity generated by a power station or electricity deemed to be generated from small generation units. STCs can only be claimed once for each system.
How can I benefit from STCs?
Owners of an eligible solar power system have two options to benefit from STCs:>
Register with the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER), apply to create STCs, negotiate the sale of STCs to an interested party and transfer STCs to the purchasing party. Visit the ORER website for more details: Australian Government – Office of The Renewable Energy Regulator. OR We can give you an upfront discount towards the purchase of your solar system by assigning your Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STC’s) to Advanced Solar Technology once your solar system is installed and producing power.
CONTENT REBATES FOR SOLAR HOT WATER:
- Eligibility of such rebates is dependant on the purchaser to investigate with the respective Federal and State Governments. Such rebates may include:
- Federal rebate of up to $1,000 for more information visit: Australian Government – Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency
- State Queensland rebate of up to $1,000 for more information visit: QLD Government – Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovations – Office of Clean Energy
